There are various ways to wash a blackboard. Some of them are more effective than others. If the board is poorly washed, then chalk stains will remain on it! Fortunately, various natural and synthetic products will help clean the board.

Cleaning a blackboard with soap and water

Mix two liters of warm water with one teaspoon of dishwashing detergent. Blot a clean rag in a bucket, wring it out and wipe the board. Rinse the board with fresh water and a new rag to remove any detergent. Dry the board completely with a clean towel or dry cloth.

Vinegar and soda

Mix one part white distilled vinegar into eight parts warm water. Depending on the size of the board, start with a quarter cup of vinegar and two cups of water. Wet a lint-free cloth or a suede rag in a bucket, wring it out and wipe the board. Rinse the fabric sometimes if there is a lot of chalk dust on the board. Dry the board with a dry towel or rag.

Lemon oil

If you don’t have vinegar, or you prefer that the room with the board does not smell like vinegar, you can use lemon oil. You can buy it, but you can cook it at home. To make your own lemon oil with which you can clean the board, you need the following:

  • Three lemons
  • 2 cups mineral oil

Process:

First, to make lemon oil, peel the lemons (you will use the peel, not the fruit). Then put the peel in a shallow bowl and fill with oil, leave overnight. Strain the mixture to remove the peel.

After the new cleaning solution has infused for another night, add 1-2 teaspoons of the oil to a clean, lint-free cloth.

There is no need to impregnate the entire fabric, much less impregnate the board. Just wipe the board from top to bottom using a thin and even coating of lemon oil. Wipe with a dry cloth to remove excess oil.

Removing a marker from the board

Have you forgotten to tell the children that you cannot draw on the board with a marker? If so, knowing how to wash your blackboard from a marker will help you in the future. You will need a hairdryer and a cloth soaked in lemon oil.

Turn on the hairdryer at minimum power and heat up the traces of the marker on the board, slowly moving the hairdryer over them. When the marker melts, use a cloth soaked in lemon oil to remove it.

Depending on the color of the marker and the pressure the child used, you may have to devote a few minutes to this. After the traces of the marker have been removed, rinse the board with the vinegar mixture given above, now dry the board thoroughly.

There is nothing complicated in cleaning a black school board. Now, students can return to the blackboard, small artists can study on the blackboard, which looks like new.

Chalk boards

To wipe off the chalk on a blackboard, it’s best to use a damp cloth or sponge. We do not recommend using an eraser on the board. Never use abrasive cleaners, as this can ruin the writing surface, over time, the board will begin to darken and “turn gray”, as more and more chalk dust is deposited on the surface of the board.

Due to the additives used in some varieties of chalk, which may leave marks when erased, we recommend using light chalk, designed for writing on blackboards.

You can easily restore the original surface condition of the board by applying various care products. After processing, the surface returns to its original dark green hue, and the board can last a rather long period.

For a visible effect, wipe the board with a soft cloth with a little beeswax or a non-abrasive car polish.

Magnetic Whiteboards

It is advisable to wipe the white magnetic whiteboard with a special sponge-eraser. It is advisable to purchase a special liquid cleaner, with which, from the surface of the school magnetic board, dried out traces of the marker and a film of dust and fingerprints that are hardly visible to the eye are well removed. Instead of a cleaner, you can use another cleaner that does not contain alcohol.
Periodic, it is necessary to do a general cleaning of the entire surface of the board:
First, with a dry cloth or sponge, all marker residue is removed from the board. Then the board is gently wiped with a liquid cleaner and allowed to dry completely.

Use the school magnetic board for its intended purpose: write on it exclusively with special markers, and not permanent. But if suddenly someone wrote on the board with incorrect markers, then the inscriptions should be removed with a liquid for washing mirrors and glass.

For long service, boards should be bought with enamel, rather than plastic coating. The enamel surface is just as smooth, but more durable and scratch resistant. The coating of such a board is especially resistant to water, but it is still desirable to keep all elements and joints dry.
