Special places of concentration were in the homes of all peoples and religions: Buddhists and Christians, Muslims, Jews and animists. Ten years ago, this tradition began to revive in the West, and today it is redistributed among us. You can call it place of power at home altar or sanctuary, or you can "focus of joy" or "place of the soul."
What will it be?
Absolutely any horizontal space is suitable for a “home altar”: a countertop, a wide board, even a flat stone, covered with a natural fabric: silk, linen or cotton. Put there objects that have symbolic meaning for you or simply warm your soul. For Christians, these are icons, for Buddhists, images of Buddha. Confucians placed tablets on their altars with the names of ancestors of five generations (we can replace them with family photos). There you can place African gods, if they are close to your spiritual world, or stones that please you, a figurine, or an important book for you. There should be enough free space before the characters. The "altar" should be decorated, but not overloaded and necessarily well-lit.
Where to arrange a place of power in the house?
In a country house, it is better to arrange such a "place for the soul" on the very top floor so that no one gets over it. In an ordinary apartment - on a high table or in a wall shelf. True, according to Buddhist tradition, for example, the image of the Buddha should be set above the line of sight. But this is not the only solution.
Our ancestors honored "red corner”(Left corner obliquely from the entrance). Confucians and Taoists, however, believe that Chi energy is concentrated in the house, if you install a sacred image directly opposite the front door.
But the main thing for us is with what thoughts we equip our “home sanctuary”. A prerequisite is that it should be in a quiet and clean place where no one bothers to concentrate.
What to do near the home place of power?
Meditate, pray, make important decisions, relax after a busy day - all this is best done near your "place of power."
And in order for it to truly become so, one should not approach him in a bad mood, with negative thoughts. If you're upset about something, first tune in to the fact that you need to get support. Then the place of your “pilgrimage” will become the most energetically clean zone of your apartment. After all, any energy has the property of multiplying, so every time you come there with bright joyful thoughts, the circle of influence of this place will expand and intensify. It is very useful to disconnect from worries, make an “empty head” and perform the ritual of offering gifts.
Gratitude is the key to prosperity. The ancient Romans knew this law, rather pragmatically formulating their relationship with the deities: "I give you to give". Both truly successful people and serious businessmen of our time know this.
Offering is a materialized gratitude, a kind of ritual during the performance of which the positive vital energy of the house increases many times. Not surprisingly, in ancient times, much attention was paid to the detailed development of this action. To attract the vibrations of Harmony into your home and your life, it’s useful to bring five different gifts to the “home altar”, in Chinese, u-gan.
Shine - symbolizes victory over dark energy, fame and success.
You can light candles (according to the ancient Eastern tradition, they should be white, but colored candles are acceptable), an oil lamp or an aroma lamp.
Modern Feng Shui experts believe that even a flickering New Year garland can be the offering of Light, but it is still better if the light is "alive" and not electric.
Water - a symbol of Life, femininity, flexibility.
“The offering of water” is one of the most “labor-intensive”, but very effective rituals. By exercising it every day, you can strengthen your own positions in the house and in your family.
To do this, first of all, “prepare the water” by filling the jug with clean water and stirring a pinch of saffron powder in it so that the liquid turns yellow. This ritual symbolizes the transformation of ordinary water into nectar. Then you should take seven identical bowls. They can be ceramic, crystal, steel or porcelain (but not plastic!). The size of the vessels does not matter.
In the morning you need to put the bowls in a row, close to each other, "at the distance of a grain of rice", and fill with prepared water to the brim, but so that it does not pour out. At the end of the day, water should be poured out, wiping the cups dry and placing them upside down (inverted vessels are a symbol of poverty). The ritual will be strengthened if at the same time you will read a prayer, say a mantra or affirmation.
Incense purify the atmosphere, neutralize negative emotions and impulses.
You can use ordinary sandalwood sticks, placing them on a wide stand, or a special smoker, where to put pieces of incense or juniper needles. All these smells have been used since ancient times but all over the world.
If you use the aroma lamp to bring the Light, add a few drops of some cult oil - sandalwood, frankincense, neroli, juniper, and iris. It is good if the oil is natural - synthetic aromas have completely different vibrations, in addition, they can cause a headache. Used sticks or smoking should be removed immediately.
Flowers increase the energy of Love and Beauty.
Of course, the flowers must be alive. According to tradition, white, yellow, pink, blue and blue flowers are considered preferable for offerings. Bright red shades and spiked colors should be avoided. The best gift in the East are chrysanthemums.
Every day it is necessary to change the water and clean the flowers at the first sign of wilting. If something good happened in your life or your plan is being realized, thank your “place of the soul” with at least one flower - carnation, iris or gerbera.
Dried flowers should not be kept in the house (especially in your cherished place) - no matter how beautiful the composition of them is, they spread impulses of sadness. A bouquet of artificial flowers with rounded petals and leaves can, in extreme cases, adorn the "altar", but is not considered an offering.
Food symbolizes material wealth, wealth. In Slavic beliefs, in addition, the offering of food in the best way establishes the relationship of the owners with the patron spirits of the house. The best solution is round fruits, a variety of sweets, cookies. All products must be fresh and undamaged (broken off cookies or a rumpled apple, for example, can “drag out” the corresponding problems with money).
Edible gifts should be regularly updated. When they bring food, Buddhists repeat the universal mantra: Om-mani-hum, to ward off wandering spirits.

Magic and Enchantment: the device of the altar and the temple in ancient times
Unfortunately, little information has been preserved about what the ancient temples looked like. In ancient times, Slavic temples were made of wood, a material not durable. Here is what we know: on the hillock stood five Churos, led by Dazhdbog, at a distance (in the lowland) - Chur Veles. There are only seven statues of the Gods. Three levels of the Slavic temple (the highest point of the hillock, hillock and lowland) symbolize Prav, Jav, Nav.
In the hut in the old days they put a home temple - a home altar. Recall the Russian hut, the red corner was located on the east side, diagonally from the stove. Both sides of the red corner had windows, so it was the most lighted part of the house. The home altar was placed in the “red” or “front” corner of the room so that the altar was the first that the person entering the room paid attention to. The popular proverb “Without God is not up to the threshold” is connected precisely with this: when entering or leaving a room or a hut, the Slav first showed honor to the Gods, and only then to the owner of the house.
How to make a home altar?
Nowadays, houses are being built without taking into account ancient traditions; in apartments there is no special place for the red corner. Therefore, the home altar must be placed depending on the cardinal points, in the east of the apartment. The Slavic home altar consists of three tiers, Dazhdbog (or Rod, if it is on the altar), Veles extreme, and five Gods, at your discretion, you should feel with your soul which gods are most dear to you. If there is both Rod and Dazhdbog on the altar, then Rod is placed higher.
What is being said about the home altar?
Travelers of the North country say this about the home altar:
“I saw red heaps in photographs of historical reconstructions of the Russian hut. However, for some reason, the red cut was rarely well lit, despite the windows on both sides of the corner. The windows were small and the light from them fell directly with virtually no diffusion. Therefore, the cut was usually quite dark (perhaps in the summer it would be convenient to protect the house from heating in the heat). And yet, I heard that in the winter before the Christmas time, twigs of fruit trees were placed in this cut. If a twig blossomed for Kolyada's holiday, it was considered a good omen (that is, light in winter, when the sun rises low above the horizon, it should still be enough). From my personal life, I can mention that the fate of my grandmother, the illegitimate daughter in the family, was decided with the help of such a twig (viburnum) in the red corner. Fortunately, her twig blossomed, so it was decided to leave my grandmother alive.
Sorry for this retreat. In general, the red kut was the most elegant part of the hut (recall the Russian proverb: “Not a hut is red with corners, but red with pies”). The first thing that fell on him was when a person entered the house (you already mentioned that). The images of the Gods located there were often decorated with towels (magical embroidered or woven towels). Offerings to the Gods were left there: flowers, candles, memorial food. In the evenings, in the red corner, a candle or a torch certainly burned, illuminating the images of the Gods. Kut was especially decorated for the holidays: Kupala, Rusalia, Christmas time, Spas. After the holidays, these jewelry was disposed of or left until the next year as a talisman and medicine in case someone in the family gets sick (Klechalnye / Rusalnye and Spassky bouquets).
During a thunderstorm or important events (such as birth or death in a family), a luminous candle was placed in the red corner - a special candle woven in the form of a pigtail with a small trident on top - such a candle was made for the Slavic festival of Gromnitsa, it symbolized the union and unity of three worlds: Rules, Reveal and Navi. Often on the Slavic altar, in addition to the images of the Gods, there are also images of ancestors (especially on memorial days) and Domestic Spirits, however, as is well known, the altar of the Spirit of the Home Hearth - the Brownie, was originally a Russian stove. In modern conditions, such an altar is usually made in the kitchen, not far from the stove. There they place the characters of the Brownie (traditionally, they hang a decorative broom-house or put a figure of the Brownie) and leave the offerings to Grandfather. ”

In summer, flowers and herbs are suitable; in autumn, fruits. Previously, the first sheaf of wheat or rye was always offered to the Gods. If you do not have them, then any plants will do, better, from your own garden. In winter, with the Gods, you can share the food that you have prepared with your own hands. For example, a ceremonial cookie in the form of animals - a roe can become a offering.

Consecration of the altar

- We represent around a simple protective circle with a mantra into which there is a transmission.
- We make offerings on the altar (fruits, yogurt, incense, water, flowers).
- We read 4 cleansing mantras (Gayatri, Mahamrityunjaya, Asatoma, Guru mantra).
- We visualize the Tree of Sanctuary right above your head and in front of you with faith and devotion, reciting the mantra or prayer of the Sanctuary.
- We represent the descent of blessings from the Tree of Refuge, which descend to the altar in the form of a stream of light, flowers, syllables, sounds of mantras.
- We make a mentally grateful offering to the deities and saints of the tree, throwing a pinch of rice and flower petals into the air, sprinkle with the offered water.
We read the OM mantra three times at the end of the practice.
Daily practice at the altar
1. At dawn, ring the bell and open the curtains (if they are on your altar). Wipe the altar and accessories if necessary.
2. Bring on the altar the symbols of the five elements: a new incense stick, clean fresh water, ghee or fruit oil, petals, fire. In a simple daily version, there may be a minimal set: incense, water, fire.
3. Sit in sukhasana or vajrasana opposite the altar.
4. Having done namaste-kriya, chant the OM mantra three times, performing Guru Yoga and the corresponding visualization, then chant the Refuge mantra:
Namo Guru Virgo
Namo Satya Dharma
Namo Arya Sanga
then four mantras:
- Guru Yoga Mantra
5. Make an offering of the five elements to the ringing of the bell. Light a candle, incense stick, mentally offering all this to the Tree of Refuge.
6. If there is time and opportunity - you can in an expanded version carry out any one practice (in which you have a transfer). Begin any invocation with the achamans.

8. Ring the bell. Close the altar. The morning practice at the altar is over.

If there is no opportunity or time, do it in a short version, i.e. without paragraph 4.
It is believed that all saints and siddhis emit a steady divine impulse (Anugraha-sakti). Therefore, when tuning to them occurs, then through them you can get this impulse.
The Vedas say that in our age of Kali-yuga, the time of the decline of the Dharma, the most effective practice is the invocation of saints and siddhas. It is easiest to carry out such an appeal in a special place - at the altar.
